FRANCE is the most romantic place in the world today simply because of its people. Tourists from the world over can attest that the French are a romantic lot. And not only that, they are also intellectuals and great thinkers. You will never get bored being with them if one of them is your romantic partner. France is also home to people who have a long life span simply because they adhere to a strict Mediterranean diet. There is a joke going on around the world which says that “if you can’t pronounce the French menu, you can’t afford it.” That may be true in five-star restaurants in France but typical French cuisine really rests at the abode of a typical Frenchman.
Another thing unique to France is its being peculiarly both conservative and liberated at the same time. Most of the people here are Roman Catholics yet France is host to the largest nudist resort in the world, the Cap d’Agde. However, we really can admit that the French language is really hot. That’s why studying in French language schools will not really hurt if you are on vacation here. But the thing that I like most in France is the annual Cannes Festival. For this year, Cannes happens on May. So be sure to be in that city so you can catch the festival. And be sure to book early like about two months ahead the most because a lot of people from all over the world are catching the festival. This is surely a feast for cineastes. But for those of you who are unfortunate enough to get inside the festival promises, then just rent the movie Femme Fatale starring Rebecca Romijn and Antonio Banderas and you will see snippets of what’s going on at the yearly Cannes. By the way, Femme Fatale is such a nice movie because it is directed by Brian de Palma. See it. It really is a classic.

Of course, all eyes in France are trained on Carla Bruni, the fiancée of their president, Nicolas Sarkozy. Upon closer inspection, Carla Bruni looks strikingly similar to Sarkozy’s former wife Cecilia Albeniz. And just like Cecilia, she is also a model. Just like Rebecca Romijn’s character in Femme Fatale, Carla Bruni is widely criticized as a femme fatale herself, having dated married men like Donald Trump and Mick Jagger before moving on as the girlfriend of Sarkozy mere months after his divorce from Cecilia. Carla Bruni’s recent public soirees included a vacation at Paris Disneyland with Sarkozy last Christmas and a New Year’s cruise in Egypt and Jordan. Carla Bruni is admittedly widely disliked by the French folks as the next first lady of France obviously because of her past reputations. The French after all are conservative folks except those patrons in Cap d’Agde. So try and visit France this year.
